Evelyn J. Martner, 74, of Sandwich, IL passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born November 24, 1942 in Campbellsville, KY the daughter of Arthur and Delma Walker Lee. She married J. Douglas Martner on June 24, 1972 in Plano, IL. Evelyn and Doug owned and operated Domar Industries for 15 years and later owned E.M. Stained Glass Studio in Sandwich for over 10 years. She enjoyed painting, drawing, cross stitching, and stained glass, but her greatest love of all was her family.
She is survived by her husband Doug of Sandwich, IL; a daughter Theresa Wynne Rich Low of Waterman, IL; two sons, Franklin J. Colette Kurtz of Somonauk, IL and David Lee Kim Kurtz of Sandwich, IL; two step-daughters, Kimberly Ann Martner of Aurora, IL, and Sherri Lynn Steve Middleton of Cottage Grove, TN ; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy DeKing of Rockford, IL, Irene Roy Ode of Earlville, IL and Mary Coleman of Sandwich, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her very close family friends, Mark Nixon and Jack Taxis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Gene, Norman, Curtis and Henry Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL, with Pastor Ed Schoenberger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Hinckley, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the funeral Home until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to the Charity of one’s choice.
