Evelyn M. "Momzy" Boe, 81, of Woodstock, died peacefully surrounded by her children, on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Hospice Care Unit of Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.
The eldest of four loving sisters, she was born June 20, 1928 in Wilmington, IL to George Adam Skeldon and Cornelia Van Duyne Skeldon. She was raised in Lockport public schools, graduating in 1946. Shortly after high school she met the love of her life, Carl Edward Boe, also from Lockport, while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy. They married on June 14, 1947. Carl and Ev moved to Somonauk, IL in September of 1947, and made it their home until 2005, when they relocated to Woodstock, IL.
Ev always wanted two little girls and soon she had them, her loving daughters, Cindy and Cathy. Her family became complete with the addition of her son Charles, in 1954. Ever the caretaker, Ev (Momzy) delighted in raising her three little darlings and often joked that she raised not only them, but the whole neighborhood.
Ev was steadfast member of her community. Throughout her life she was active in her church, PTA, Veteran's programs and the city council, while dedicating a great deal of her time to attending, chaperoning and organizing school activities.
Ev enjoyed, above all, spending time with her family and friends. She loved seeing the world, playing cards, baking for her kids and grand kids, going on family fishing trips and hosting holiday celebrations. She nurtured, cared for and deeply loved her entire family and centered her life on sharing that love and spreading happiness to all those around her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Funzy" Boe.
