Ervin V. Frerichs, 82, of Millington, IL passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born September 28, 1932 in Willow Lake, South Dakota the son of Freric N. and Lena (Grensburg) Frerichs. Ervin grew up in Elmore, MN. He married Betty Hamson on August 25, 1957 in Bricelyn, MN. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He worked at Caterpillar for over 30 years retiring in 1989. Ervin was also a part time Police Officer during the 1960’s in Plano, IL. He enjoyed wood working, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Steve) Casner of Sandwich, IL, one son Bobby (Carrie Sloboda) Frerichs of Cresthill, IL; one grandson, Paul (Christina) Casner of San Jose, CA; one sister, Irene Rieffer of Conger, MN, one brother Ronald Frerichs of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty, one grandson, Patrick Casner, one sister, Eunice Haggen, two brothers, Edgar and Bernard Frerichs.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Millington United Methodist Church 200 Orleans St. Millington, IL, with Pastor Kirk C. Scott officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22nd in the church until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
