Elisabeth Margaret Cummings, 96, of Yorkville, IL passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Jennings Terrace in Aurora, IL. She was born June 5, 1913 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, the daughter of Justis and Kathrina (Weigand) Albrecht. She was 14 years old when her mother passed away and she took over the household duties of caring for her father and siblings. In 1951, she came to the United States and lived in Peoria, IL working in a hospital cafeteria. She married Wendell Cummings in 1957 and they moved to Yorkville, IL.
She is survived by two step daughters, Maxine Cummings of North Aurora, IL and Janet Reaves of Crawfordville, FL; five grandchildren, Kathy, Karen, Robert, Paige and Kelly; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews in Germany and Texas including a special niece, Margot Hederer of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, her parents and seven siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at Millington Newark Cemetery in the Chapel at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Memorials may be directed in her memory to her family to be given to Jennings Terrace.
