Edward Leo Nugent, 86, of Waterman passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb. He was born August 7, 1928 in Serena, IL, the son of Leo and Florence (Grandadam) Nugent. He married Florence Hayes on April 4, 1951 in Ottawa, IL. Edward was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Waterman American Legion Post #654, Civil Air Patrol, Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Kishwaukee Amateur Radio Club. Edward owned and operated TV Clinic in DeKalb, IL until 1993. He enjoyed having his pilot’s license, flying, restoring aircraft, Ham Radio and spending time with his numerous friends and family.
He is survived by two sons, Steven E. Nugent of San Diego, CA and David B. (Sandra) Nugent of Roscoe, IL; one daughter, Diane M. (Frederick) Dick of San Francisco, CA; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Alexandra, Katherine and Elizabeth; one brother, Vincent Nugent of Aurora, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dolores Bermes, Marilyn Nugent and Margaret Lenac.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Father Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with a wake service being recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
