Edward “Ed” Hecathorn, 70, of Leland, IL, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born April 4, 1955, in Mendota, IL, the son of Charles and Marjorie (Boltz) Hecathorn. He married Carol Miller on September 18, 1976, in Earlville, IL. Ed proudly served his community as a volunteer fire fighter for the Leland Fire Department since 1986, serving as Chief for a number of years.. He was a member of Leland United Methodist Church in Leland. He worked for Waterman FS as a sprayer operator for over 30 years. Ed enjoyed gardening but most of all, he loved spending time with his family, Especially Piper.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Rachel Hecathorn and Jessica (Josh) Jewell; one granddaughter, Piper; two brothers, Rick (Phyllis) Hecathorn and Don (Mary) Hecathorn; one sister, Carol (Richard) Koch; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nancy Hecathorn and Betty Klein, and one brother, Armin Hecathorn.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the funeral home in Somonauk, with Pastor Abraham Moller officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL.
