Edith L. “Edie” Weeks, 71, of Plano, Illinois passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at her residence in Plano. She was born at home in Heilman, Indiana on March 28, 1940 the daughter of Emmett and Ida (Yates) Evans. She married Larry G. Weeks on May 25, 1963 at her parents’ home in Plano, IL. Edie was very active member of First Lutheran Church in Plano, former director of the Plano Historical Society, and Aurora Women’s Bowling Association, treasurer of two leagues at Cedardell Golf Club, “Ladies of the Evening and Tuesday Morning Ladies” leagues until her health prevented her from playing the game she loved best.
She is survived by her husband, Larry G. Weeks and her mother Ida Evans both of Plano, IL; one daughter, Jerri Lynn (Keith) Baker of Oswego, IL; one son, Aaron Weeks of Aurora, IL; three grandchildren, Halie, Levi and Aden Baker; stepson, Bryan Weeks of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-laws, Sandra (Karl) Michaelson, Gloria (Larry) Peterson and many special nieces and nephews. Also many friends and classmates who have been there for Edie through this final chapter of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Evans, sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Marlene and Forest Johnson, one brother, Lloyd Evans and a step-grandson, Jamie Weeks.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Plano, with Reverend Bruce Booher officiating. Burial will follow at Helmar Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran High School Scholarship Fund or The American Cancer Society.
