Earl DuWayne Ovitt, 83, of Plano, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, Illinois. He was born on January 9, 1937 in Sandwich, IL.
His many interests included listening to bluegrass and country music, bird watching, gardening, NASCAR, the Bears, model trains, baseball trading cards and coin collecting. His talent of woodworking with a jigsaw will be enjoyed by many for years to come.
He worked for numerous years as a custodian at Plano High School where he was loved by the students and faculty. As a long time employee at The Coral, it always held a special place in his heart and he continued to enjoy visiting even after retiring.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Mike (Colleen) Dotson, Catherine Tunnell, Alan (Monica) Dotson, Patricia (James) Hagy, siblings, Beverly Newton, Carol Jenkins, Judy Smallwood, Curtis (Sherry) Ovitt and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mali, his toy poodle, was his pride and joy.
DuWayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Alice (Dotson), his parents, Ralph and Frances (Teal) Ovitt, his brother Jerry Ovitt, his stepdaughter Barbara (Dave) Bill and his grandson Joey Fleming.
