Earl Willard Minard, 93, of Leland, IL passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born April 5, 1923 in Earlville, IL, the son of Floyd Duane and Inger Ione Richardson Minard. He married Mary “Jean” Calhoun on February 25, 1967 in Montgomery, IL. Earl was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Leland. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII. He retired from Caterpillar after 20 years of service. Earl was the road commissioner for Adams Township and worked for the State of Illinois at the highway department. He was also a house painter for many years. Earl and Jean enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Leland, IL; one daughter, Peggy Michael Corrigan of Ottawa, IL; one son, Lloyd “Bud” Schwarz of Dixon, IL; one daughter adopted in heart, Mary Gary Luber of Oswego, IL; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ruth Pfeiffer and Dorothy Stolp and one brother, Harold Minard.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Leland with Pastor Zach Baer officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the church in Leland.
