Duane E. Lackey, 67, of Somonauk, IL passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 in Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. He was born August 2, 1949 in Sandwich, IL the son of Charles and Georgia Weger Lackey. He married Cindy Fox on December 21, 1974 in Somonauk, IL. He was a member of Union Congregational Church in Somonauk. He was proud Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1969 to 1971 in Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post #0069 of Robinson, IL, and was a member of the Somonauk Fire Department for 18 years. Duane enjoyed playing Santa Claus for 37 years, was an avid Cubs fan, was a barber for several years and spent a lot of time at Lake Geneva. He was employed at Caterpillar, National Tractor Parts, Nibco, Imperial Marble and Miller’s Grocery Store.
He is survived by his wife Cindy of Somonauk, IL; one son Adam Lackey of Somonauk, two granddaughters, Riley and Zoey Lackey of Somonauk; one brother Larry Lackey of Versailles, MO, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Lonnie Lackey.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Union Congregational Church in Somonauk, IL with Rev. Theodore Engelsdorfer officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Mound Cemetery rural Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
