Dorothy J. Murphy 90, of Sandwich passed away Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion of Sandwich, born July 28, 1923 in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Anderson) Davis. She married Durward A. Murphy on September 21, 1939 in Ramsey, IL. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, shopping and her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. (D. LeRoy) Davis of Princeton, IL and Mary Lou (LaVerne) Wilkening of Sandwich, IL; one son, Dewey (Rita Jandt) Murphy of Sandwich, IL; seven grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Melissa, Matt, Brian, Teresa and Kyle; sixteen great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Viola Murphy of Waterman, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Durward, two sisters, Freda and Nellie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL . Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Charity of one’s choice.
