Dorothy C. Gunderson, 84, of DeKalb, IL passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at Bethany Health Care in DeKalb. She was born November 10, 1927 in Newark, IL the daughter of Helmar and Inger (Mickelson) Hanson. She married Kenneth Gunderson on May 6, 1953 in Plano, IL. She loved to sew, cook and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Kenny; one daughter, Kim (Tim) O’Toole of Naperville; one son, Kraig (Debby) Gunderson of Edwardsville, IL; four grandchildren, Matthew (Julia) O’Toole of Chicago, Daniel (Beth) O’Toole of Chicago, Brian Gunderson of St. Louis, MO and Kristen Gunderson of Edwardsville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, in infancy Brian Gunderson; seven sisters, Hazel Thurrow, SeDell Johnson, Anna Hanson, Marian Darby, Margaret Parkhouse, Martha Nolte and Helen Huggins.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Private burial will be at Leland Cemetery in Leland. In Lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to DeKalb County Hospice or Bethany Health and Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb.
