Doris M. Schmitz, 92, of Earlville, IL passed away, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Stonecroft Village Retirement Community in Mendota. She was born September 23, 1921 in Rollo, IL the daughter of Daniel and Helen (Graham) Gallagher. She married Ralph M. Schmitz October 14, 1941. Doris was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Penny) Schmitz , Margo Gallagher Schmitz, Ellen (Dale) Grzybowski, Regina (Gillian) Schmitz; four grandchildren, Lynn, Lisa, Randy and Nathan; six great grandchildren; one sister, Rosalie (Bill) Freeman, a niece and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Her husband Ralph, one son John, two sisters, Mary Detig and Ruth McConville.
According to Doris’ wishes there will be no visitation and a Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church 221 W. Union St. Earlville, IL with Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery Earlville. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
