Doris M. Sawyer, 87, of Leland passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona, IL. She was born October 14, 1926 in New London, CT the daughter of Charles and Theresa (Sunder) Sibree. She married Leslie Sawyer on July 10, 1946 in New London, CT. Doris was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Leland.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra (Steve) Riskedal of Leland, IL; two sons, Scott (Susan) Sawyer of Vancouver, WA and Stephen (Judi) Sawyer of Earlville, IL; eight grandchildren, Brad (Joyce) Riskedal, Robin (Dave) Bishop, Tim (Dana) Sawyer, Kristin (Todd) Juhnke, Erik Sawyer, Ashley Sawyer, Allison Sawyer and Jared (Vannessa) Sawyer; five step grandchildren, Laura (Matt) Russell, Jennifer Stangland, Christina (Cory) Kelson, John (Annette) Anderson and Amanda Green; sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie and one sister, Olive Sibree.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the funeral home in Somonauk.
