Doris L. Smith, 92, of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of Earlville, IL passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Loyalton Assisted Living Home in Rockford. She was born July 28, 1917, in Baker, IL the daughter of Oscar and Ella (Kohler) Hill. She married Thomas B. Smith on July 18, 1936. Doris was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church. Before retiring, she worked at the National Bank of Earlville for over twenty-five years. Doris’s whole world revolved around her love for her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlys (James) Goodin of Rockford, IL; three grandchildren, Laura Goodin of Rockford, IL, Amy (Aaron) Eissens of Oswego, IL, and Sarah (Keith) Krieg of Rockford, IL; four great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Olivia Krieg, Jacob and Emily Eissens; five sisters, Barbara Brown, Betty Kambic, June Sharp, Greta Sinchak and Georgia Philippe; two brothers, John and Donald Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Thomas in 1985, one sister Virginia Meyers and one brother Russell Hill, and one infant sister Marion Louise.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow in Precinct Cemetery Mausoleum rural Earlville, IL. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Earlville United Methodist Church, Earlville Ambulance Fund or to the charity of choice.
