Hoffman and Mildred Baker Hoffman. The youngest of four children, Doris received her B.S. from Beloit College, Wisconsin, and moved to Leland in 1950 to teach Spanish and Music at Leland High School. On March 17, 1951, she married Lester Grover and settled on a farm west of Leland where they raised five children. She loved being a farmer’s wife, but when the children were of school age, she returned to teaching.

She expanded her Spanish students’ awareness of the culture and language by coordinating Christmas trips to Spain. In her last 6 years of teaching, she taught Spanish at Sandwich High School. She enjoyed playing bridge, the piano, and floating in the pool with her grandchildren.
Doris was a proud Auxilian of the Sandwich Community Hospital, managing the Gift Shop for many years. She was also a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution and a longtime member of the Leland American Legion Auxiliary, the Leland Jr. Women’s Club, and the Leland Methodist Church.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Les, on October 30, 2016 and her brothers, Lawrence and Richard Hoffman. Dad has already found her and they are both happy again, ready to celebrate their next anniversary.
