Donna J. Gunier, 51, of Sandwich, IL passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, IL. She was born September 14, 1969 in Madison, TN the daughter of Frank W. Jr. & Harriet E. (Saffran) Pihera. She married David B. Gunier on June 26, 1992 in Sycamore, IL. Donna loved animals and rescued numerous throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to her children. She enjoyed gardening and making her home beautiful. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband David B. Gunier, her mother Harriet E. Pihera of Somonauk, IL; two son’s Kurtis J. Gunier of Sandwich, IL, and Dustin (Lindsay) Gunier of Earlville, IL; four grandchildren Clementine, Layne, Avery, and Owen, one sister Doreen (Brian) Fox of Orlando, FL, one Aunt Birdie Vario of Sparks, NV, one niece Kelly Fox, and one nephew Taylor Fox.
She was preceded in death by her father Frank W. Pihera Jr., and mother-in-law Mary Gunier.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Reverend David Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Eldering Cemetery in Sheridan, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00, noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
