Donald Wayne Robbins

February 25, 1954 — July 31, 2023

Donald Wayne Robbins, adored husband, father, and papa, of Newark, IL passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 in his home at the age of 69. Don was born on February 25, 1954 in Ecru, Mississippi, son of Travis and Wilma (Swords) Robbins. He married his high school sweetheart, Teresa (Bruggemann) on November 4, 1972. They enjoyed a very loving marriage of 50 years.

Don retired from the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters after 30 years of service and applied his skills to build his family’s dream property. In his retirement he became a hobbyist, enjoying traveling with his wife, golfing, and caring for his property. Most recently he has been known for his backyard honey as a local beekeeper of Don Bee Crazy Apiary. He loved to share these passions with friends and family.

The following words were collected by his extended family to describe Don. He was loyal, determined, calm, tender, fearless, thoughtful, loving, happy, caring, helpful, creative, honest, dedicated, compassionate, handy, assertive, hard working, brave, genuine, easygoing, consistent, driven, smart, devoted, gentle, and enthusiastic. The word that was repeated the most was kind.

Don, above all else, was devoted to his love, Teresa. Don and Teresa lived a beautiful love story. He and Teresa successfully raised three very different but all strong, driven, and independent women. He was head over heels in love with his grandchildren and foster grandchildren. They each felt his love and devotion to them.

Don is survived by his wife, Teresa Robbins, his three daughters, Tari (Phil) Jansen of Princeton, IL, Cassi (David) White of Yorkville, and Elli (Randy) Kennedy of Newark, his four grandchildren Macie and Riley Jansen, Maxwell Wayne Edman, and Lukas White. Surviving siblings include Anita Granter of North Aurora, Martha (Fred) Paugels of Montgomery, James (Kathy) Robbins of Millbrook, Becky (Scott) Thomas of KY, and Tim (Sheila) Robbins of Yorkville as well as his sister-in-law Marylin Robbins of Montgomery and many other extended family, nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Billy Roy Robbins, William Ray Robbins, his sister, Sue O’Connell, and his brother-in-law Charles Granter.

The family will be receiving visitors for a celebration of life at Eighner Funeral Home, Somonauk, Illinois on Sunday, August 13 from 1:00-4:00 pm. Online tributes may be provided at www.eighnerfuneralhomes.com
