Donald E. Riemensnider

Donald E. Riemensnider, 91, of Somonauk passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his home. He was born July 5, 1923 in Waterman, IL, the son of Elmer H. and Pearl Schiedecker Riemensnider. He married Dorothy Ann Sampson on June 5, 1943 in Leland, IL. Don was a lifetime member of the Union Congregational Church in Somonauk. He was the longest living member of the Somonauk Lions Club, member of the Sandwich Moose #1016, life member of Mendota Elks #1212, a life member of the Masons AF&AM, a Past Master of the Somonauk Lodge and a member of the Friends of the LBM Olmstead Museum. Don was also a member of the LaSalle County Farm Bureau of which he was President for five years. He served as a past board member of LaSalle County Farm Supply. Don was a long time board member of the Farmers State Bank. He was a member of the Somonauk Improvement and Development Committee for many years and very active in the development of the Somonauk Community Park.

He is survived by one granddaughter, Julie A. Carroll Treacy of Naperville, IL; one grandson, Joel Brandow of Somonauk, IL; three great grandchildren, Noelle, Timothy and John; and one son-in-law, Paul Judy Brandow of Somonauk, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, “Doc” Murray, his wife, one daughter, Donna Lynn Brandow, and two sisters, Ruth Gerlick and Irene Riemensnider.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Union Congregational Church in Somonauk with Rev. Michelle Prentice-Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
