Donald R. "Poppy" Johnson, 77, of Sandwich, IL, formerly of Bloomingdale and Lake Carroll, IL passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born August 28, 1929 in Peoria, IL the son of John and Ivy (Foster) Johnson. He married Margaret L. "Peggy" Meyer of June 10, 1950 in Maywood, IL. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomingdale, IL and the Methodist Church of Lanark, IL. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed John Wayne. He was a member of the Naval Reserve.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Sandwich, IL; four daughters, Susan (Curt) Carrion of Hanover Park, IL, Judy (Scott) Lorenz of Lake Forest, IL, Debbie (Richard) Crystal of Bloomingdale, IL, and Donna (Charles) Camp of Somonauk, IL; one son, Dale (Kimber) Johnson of Elk Grove, IL; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ruth (Dvae) Byrnes of Flippin, AR; two brothers, Harold (Lucille) Johnson of Battlecreek, MI and Edmund (Jan) Johnson of Villa Park, IL.\
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Servcies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Dennis Heaney officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2007 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
