Donald W. Lundeen, 92, of Somonauk was born June 6, 1922 in Sandwich, IL and passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at his home. Donald spent his life as a farmer in rural Somonauk. He was a proud World War II veteran. Donald was involved in many community activities, including the American Legion, Salem Lutheran Church Council, Boards of Somonauk School District, Farmer’s State Bank and DeKalb County. He served as Victor Township Supervisor and DeKalb County Board Chairman. Donald was President of Somonauk Lions Club, Kishwaukee Service Company, Northern FS and Indian Oaks Country Club. Donald was a long time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sandwich and current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk.

He is survived by six children: Mary Hooper of Sandwich, IL, Linda Johnson of Somonauk, IL, Donna (Barry) Shaw of Naperville, IL, Gerald (Toni) Lundeen of Sandwich, IL, Margaret (William) Perry of Marietta, GA and Dean (Cynthia) Lundeen of Somonauk, IL.

Twenty grandchildren: Rev. Brian (Rev. Maren) Hooper, Gregory (Robin) Hooper, Bradley (Rev. Janelle) Hooper, Kate (Christopher) Mosher, Erik (Jamie) Johnson, Jeannine (Christopher) Dingman, William (Gretchen) Shaw, Timothy (Natalie) Shaw, Colin (Emily Foy) Shaw, Donald Shaw, Christopher Lundeen, Stacey (Tony) Moore, Daniel (Amanda) Lundeen, Megan (Eric) Webster, Derek (Allison) Perry, Brett Perry, Jacqueline (Houston) Cline, Amanda (Benjamin) Moore, Kevin (Sarah) Lundeen and Kenneth (Bernadette) Lundeen.

Twenty-eight great-grandchildren: Norah and Benjamin Hooper, Joseph, Emily and Holly Hooper, Sophia and Soren Hooper, Marykate, Annalyn and Jackson Mosher, Ryan and Taylor Johnson, Nicholas Dingman, Clayton and Rebecca Shaw, Thomas and Matthew Shaw, Rachel, Sarah and Derek Moore, Jonah, Emmett and Silas Lundeen, Brady and Kyla Webster, Vivienne Perry and Addyson and Hudson Cline.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years, Annette (Buhler) Lundeen, daughter, Jean in infancy, his wife of twenty-three years, Virginia (Edge Carnahan) Lundeen, his parents, David and Bette Lundeen, eight brothers and sisters: Edward, John, Clarence, Martha, Paul, Roy and Esther Lundeen, Ethel Aldis, and one son-in-law, John Hooper.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 235 S. Green St. in Somonauk, IL 60552 with Reverend William C. Weidenbach, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
