Donald E. Haiar of Sandwich, formerly of Eola, IL went to heaven on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Sandwich Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 29, 1939 in Ann Arbor, MI to Herbert and Ruth Boyke Haiar. Don went to Mooseheart School. He married his beloved wife Mary E. Hamman on May 25, 1963. Over the years Don worked as a cook at restaurant, Reber Canning Company in Eola, Illinois, Kroerler Manufacturing Company in Naperville, and Aurora Iron Work in Aurora, IL. Don enjoyed fishing and picking up cans long Eola Road in Eola, IL, and going out eating with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Haiar of DeKalb, IL; son, Charles Haiar of Loves Park, IL; two granddaughters, Heather and Carrie Mueting; two sisters, Edie Steve Smith of Iowa and Alice Rueland of N. Aurora, IL; two Sisters-in-law, Louise Easton and Sylvia Joe Balice; numerous nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and two great great nieces; two great great nephews; and a very special friend Greg Martin.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, two brothers, Melvin Haiar and Jerald Haiar, and one sister, Marlene Green.
