Don W. Sawicki

Don W. Sawicki, 72, of Earlville, IL passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his home in Earlville, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 10, 1944 in Ottawa, IL the son of Al and Jean Elzer Sawicki. He married Betty Durbin on March 30, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa, IL. Don graduated from St, John’s College in Winfield, Kansas. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, IL, where he taught adult Sunday School class, and was an active member of the choir for over thirty years. He enjoyed singing with his friends and hosted many karaoke parties at his home. He sang in Earlville Community Choir for several years. He worked as a manufacturer’s representative for Librizzi and Associates.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Earlville, one daughter, Kristen Ambler of Earlville; three grandchildren, Bradon, Madolyn and Kamdyn Ambler; his mother Jean Sawicki of Ottawa, IL; two sisters, Cheryl David Hill of Denver, CO and Dianne Mike Lacke of Fredericksburg, TX, one brother in law and sister in law, George Pat Durbin of Earlville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al Sawicki, and one grandson, L. Dalton Ambler.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, IL with Rev. Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to family.
