Don J. “Pete” Farley, 76, of Leland passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. He was born December 12, 1935 in Earlville, the son of Fremont and Fern (Wormland) Farley. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Leland Lions Club, Leland Masonic Lodge and Leland Methodist Church. He also enjoyed farming for many years. He was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis for many years. He kept a positive attitude throughout and fought a brave battle to the end.
He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Miller of Scottsdale AZ: three grandchildren, Kristi and Suzi Northup and Stephanie Kettle; the mother of his children, Nancy Farley O’Neill of Grand Junction CO; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Ginny Northup; four brothers, John , Bud, Ole and David Farley; two sister, Mary Shumway and Joyce Shields.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Leland United Methodist Church in Leland with the Pastor Jodeen Immer officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 12:00 noon. Memorial may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
