Dolores “Dee” Thrall, 90, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Somonauk, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at West Minster Towers Skilled Nursing Care in Bradenton, FL. She was born June 11, 1927 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Axel and Dorothy Anderson Hansen. Dee and Phil were together since 1963. Together, Phil and Dee owned the Pioneer Supper Club and the Basket Restaurant for over 30 years in Somonauk; she enjoyed serving her customers as much as they enjoyed her company. After Phil’s passing in 1988, Dee met Jay Kinney and spent several years together raising border collies and going to dog shows. She continued to run The Basket Restaurant until 2001 when she retired and moved to Earlville. In 2013, Dee moved to Bradenton, Florida to live with her son, Tracy and his wife, Jamie. Dee enjoyed going to the local church every day partaking in activities and socializing. She was a great mentor to many, passing along valuable life skills and lessons. Dee was always quick witted, making conversations very interesting. Dee was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth (Brad) Freeburg of West Allis, WI and Dee (Chuck) Hurst of White House, TN; one son, Tracy (Jamie) Thrall of Bradenton, FL; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phil; her loving companion, Jay Kinney; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Moore; and her brother, Wally.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the Sandwich Moose Lodge.
