Desiree “Desi” Cruz, 32, of Newark passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. She was born July 26, 1991 in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of Michelle Longmire. Desiree was a caring, considerate and loving mother of two beautiful children. Her smile captured and brightened the hearts of people. She always did her best to provide the best emotional and physical support. Loyalty should have been Desirees middle name, family meant the world to Desiree and even with disagreements she always found her way back. Desiree had a fiery spirit; she was never afraid to speak her mind. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Michelle (Kevin Madsen); her grandmother, Omie Longmire; her two children, Makaylee Minnis and Wyatt Bickle; her three siblings, Stephanie (Cong Truong) Longmire, Matthew (Tara) Longmire, and Mark (Joanna) Cruz; two nephews, Angel Jimenez and Urijah Cruz; her fiancé, Adam Robinson; her stepson, Canaan; her beloved husky, Duke; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Cruz, her grandpa, Donnie Longmire, her uncles, Donnie Longmire, Jr. and Steven Longmire, her great aunt, Faye Eakle, and her niece, Aubrey Longmire.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, Il. A funeral service will be held in Desi’s honor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the funeral home in Plano, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
