Dennis R. Wood

Dennis Ray Wood, 88, of Mendota, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, February 12, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 26, 1937 in Mendota, IL the son of George and Ella (Bryan) Wood. He married Sharon K. Fultz on November 16, 1979 in Mendota, IL. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was an avid Chicago Sports fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sport games.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of 46 years; four children, George Wood, Ben (Jamie Pluta) Sloter, Doug (Kim) Sloter, and Michelle (Brad) Wilhelm; six grandchildren, Abbey Wood, Kelsie Sloter, Kyle Wood, Mikayla Wilhelm, Emily Elwell, and Brayden Wilhelm; two sisters, Esther Bentley and Wilma Tate and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eileen Biers, and daughter-in-law Tammy Wood.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Johnson-Grove Cemetery located at Shabbona Grove Rd. in Waterman, IL 60556 (cross streets are Leland Rd. and Shabbona Grove Rd.) with Rev.
