David L. Waldron

David L. Waldron, 78, of Earlville, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle, with his loving family by his side. He was born February 21, 1946, in Blytheville, AR, the son of Russell F. and M. Sue (Harker) Waldron. Dave proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Iwo Jima. He married Patricia Sturgeon on December 6, 1974, at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville. Dave was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church where he serviced as Pastor Parish Chairman, Sunday School Superintendent, and Lay Leader of church. He was also a member of the Foundation for Excellence in Education. Dave always stayed busy, he served on the Secretary of Illinois Valley Transportation Association, served as the Mayor of Earlville for 4 years, Alderman City Council, Chair of the 125th Celebration of Earlville, Co-Chairman of 150th Celebration of Earlville, Champlain of American Legion Post 549, Member of Mayor Association of LaSalle County, served on the Earlville Ambulance for 25 years, and the Zoning Committee. Additionally, he worked as a dispatcher for many companies, Dave had a problem saying “no”.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Chad (Heather) Waldron; daughter, Carol (Gary) Stanford, Cynthia (Brett) Larsen, and Melissa (Jeff) Campbell; sister, Lori Britton; grandchildren, Matt Kelly (Emily Wagner), Tyler (Narissa) Keller, McKenna (Tim) McNally, Grant Campbell, Jamie Stanford, Jenna Stanford, Cooper Larsen, Lexie Campbell, Parker Waldron, Elyse Waldron; great grandchildren, Laylah Morey, Braya Keller, and Kanan Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, great grandson, Barrett Keller, sisters, Carolyn Hish, Debbie Jones, and Sandy Malin, his in-laws, Orrin and Evelyn Sturgeon.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Earlville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, United Methodist Church in Earlville. Burial will follow at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville, with Military Honors by Earlville American Legion. Pallbearers will be Matt Kelly, Tyler Keller, Grant Campbell, Cooper Larsen, Tim McNally, and Rich Goodbred. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice or to the family to be divided amongst Dave’s favorite charities.
