David “Roop” Sr. passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, June 21, 2018. He was born October 23, 1939 the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Davis) Roop. Dave took great pride in his work as a machinist most of his life. He was a classic car enthusiast and loved working in his garage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and loved the wild west and bird watching.
He leaves behind his children, Terri Ferrario, David (Sherry) Roop, Jr., Lori Roop, Dan (Laura) Roop; son-in-law, John Ferrario, Sr.; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; his sisters, Shirley Stover and Ann (Ed) Dunlop; his brothers, Mike (Joann) Roop and Tom Roop; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Milton “Cork” Roop and Herbert “Skip” Roop, and one sister, Jean Halter.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating. Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Greenwood Cemetery.
