David R. Light

David R. Light, 79, of Yorkville, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born April 13, 1947, in Aurora, IL, the son of Richard and Catherine (Kline) Light. He married Margaret Johnson on July 31, 1976, in Morris, IL at the First United Church. David was a proud member of the US Navy. He started working at an early age cutting asparagus and pulled night crawlers at the golf course. David was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 37 years and 6 months, he was very honored to service his community. He loved fishing in the Fox River near his home. David was a loving man that is deeply missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; his sons, Steven Light and Daniel (Julie) Light; his brother, Robert Light; his sister, Linda (Gerald); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Diane Hester, his brother, Ronald Light.

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, IL, with Military Honors by the Plano American Legion and US Navy Honor Guard.
