David Allan “Fig” Olson, age 59, cherished son, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on March 6, 1965, in Sandwich, Illinois, David was the beloved son of Faith Brady Olson and Thomas Gene Olson.
David grew up with a passion for sports and machinery, a love that stayed with him throughout his life. He was an ardent supporter of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears, often spending weekends cheering for his favorite teams. His enthusiasm for golf was well-known among his friends and family, who often joined him on the greens.
David's professional life was marked by his long-standing career at Lyon Metal Products, where he was respected for his hard work and commitment. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and reliable team member who always brought a positive attitude to the workplace.
In his personal life, David found joy in restoring cars and tractors, a hobby that connected him to his family's history. His most recent project, having his grandfather's International Harvester tractor restored, was a testament to his passion for preserving family heritage.
David is survived by his brothers, Matthew (Joanna) Olson and Daniel (Jeannette) Olson, who will forever cherish the memories they shared. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, Anna Olson, Zach Olson, Laura Olson, and Brady Olson, who will miss his warmth and humor. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Jerry Olson and his stepmother, Carrol (Dannewitz) Olson.
David's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Tom Bourke officiating. Burial following at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family invites anyone that would like to celebrate his life to the Moose Lodge 1016 in Sandwich immediately following the burial.
