Darlene Ann Hubbard

Darlene Ann Hubbard, 80, of Rockford, IL (and formerly from Somonauk, IL) died September 14, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family after suffering from several brain tumors. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. She was born October 10, 1930 in Morris, IL. Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Mabel Volden and sister, Donna Mae Horton. She married Kenneth L. Hubbard, Jr. on October 2, 1948 in Lisbon,IL. She retired from AT&T in 1985. She was extremely devoted to her family and made many sacrifices to make her family happy. She was the rock and comedian of the family. Her humor was well known by those who knew her well.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ken and her son, Allen (Ingrid), daughters, Darla Sundae and Charmaine Hubbard; grandchildren, Logan and Ashton; brother-in-law, Holman Horton Jr. and family. A heartfelt special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their ongoing support and care provided by their special angels. Mother always regarded Somonauk her home and missed the people very much. According to her wishes we will be taking her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. A special Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2010 with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside, Belvidere, IL with Pastor Troy Hedrick officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
