Daniel Bruce Perkins, 65, of Somonauk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home with his wife by his side, after a courageous 2 year battle with leukemia. He was born August 28, 1949 in Davenport, IA the son of Robert Bruce & Lavonne Irene (Meinert) Perkins. He was united in marriage on April 28, 1989 to the love of his life, Cynthia McCrimmon and spent the next 25 years together. Mr. Perkins proudly served his country for the US Army as a medic in Vietnam. In December he retired after 25 years of service from AT&T in Montgomery, he made many friends there. Dan loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Taking care of his home and garden was his passion. Poker night with his buddies was always something he looked forward too. He will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Cynthia of Somonauk, IL; his children, Jeannie Stuebinger of Sandwich, IL, Mayme (Craig) Vlietstra of Allendale, MI and Angela (Ryan) Macdonald of Morris, IL; three granddaughters; three grandsons; two brothers, Wayne (Denise) Perkins of Bettendorf, IA and David Perkins of Davenport, IA; three sisters, Cheryl (Dennis) Smith of Bettendorf, Bobbie (John) Walker of Davenport and Penny (Matt) Rueter of Davenport, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Del Keilman officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
