Cynthia “Cindy” Campisi-Walton, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026. Though our hearts are broken, we are endlessly grateful for the love she gave so freely and the light she brought into our lives every single day.

Cindy had a rare and beautiful way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her kindness was not just something she showed—it was who she was. Whether you were family, a friend, a student, or even a stranger, Cindy met you with warmth, compassion, and an open heart. She made the world gentler simply by being in it.

As a Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher at Kaneland Harter Middle School, Cindy poured her heart into her students. She didn’t just teach them—she believed in them, fought for them, and stood beside them when they needed someone most. She saw their potential when others might not, and she never stopped advocating for their happiness, dignity, and success.

Her love extended beyond people to the animals she rescued and cherished. From tiny Bella to the life she built with her husband, John, she found joy in opening her heart and home to those in need. Together, they lovingly cared for Miso and Millie, giving them not just a home, but a life filled with safety, comfort, and love. She also took quiet pride in the simple beauty around her—her orchid blooming so beautifully in the kitchen window, something she loved and cared for so deeply, and the steady presence of birds gathering at her feeders. She loved all of them, especially the cardinals, and found peace and happiness in watching them each day—small, meaningful moments that reflected her gentle and caring spirit.

Cindy lived by a quiet but powerful truth: advocate fiercely for what you love. She lived that truth every day—in her work, in her family, and in the countless small acts of kindness that defined her life.

She was deeply proud of earning her teaching and master’s degrees, but her greatest pride and joy was always her family. The love she shared with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren was the center of her world. That love never wavered, even in her most difficult days, and it carried her—and all of us—through until the very end.

Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, John Walton; her loving children, Charlene Campisi (Chase Ryburn) and Ryan Campisi (Alexis Wallace); her cherished grandchildren, Kade, Krew, and Kylan Campisi; her parents, Betty and Tony Campisi; her sister, Corinne Campisi-Jaeger (Robert Jaeger), and their daughters, Julia and Elizabeth; her brother, Chris Campisi (Angie Campisi), and their son, Luigi; her stepson, Auston Walton (Brianna Stryczek); her mother-in-law, Shirley Walton; her sisters-in-law, Gae Walton and Victoria Walton (Wally Plahutnik); and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who were such an important part of her life; as well as her beloved rescue dogs, Miso and Millie.

We will miss her voice, her laughter, her strength, and the way she loved us so completely. Our lives are forever changed by her absence, but forever better because she was ours. Her love will remain with us—in who we are, in how we care for one another, and in the countless lives she touched.

She will be deeply, profoundly, and forever missed.

A private service will be held for immediate family. A Celebration of Life honoring Cindy will be held at a later date, with details to follow. For more information or to sign the online guestbook please visit www.EighnerFuneralHomes.com
