Cleda Arlene Johnson, 99, of Sandwich, IL formerly of Plano and Earlville, passed away, Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Valley West Hospital Sandwich. She was born October 20, 1913 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of Charles H. and Forrest (Taylor) Raney. She married Wilbur Johnson on May 11, 1931 in Leland, IL. She was a member of Plano United Methodist Church. She lived in Earlville for 26 years, moving in 1964 to Plano, and then moved to the Sandwich Manor in 2006. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, hiking and camping.
She is survived by two sisters, Vera Raney of Sandwich, IL and Myrna (Edward) Fox of Waterman, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur in 1974, one son Charles, six brothers, Carroll, Melvin, Burl, Kenton, Eldon and Richard Raney.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Reverend Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery in Earlville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Plano United Methodist Church.
