Clarence M. Schnitz, Jr., 86, Formerly of Somonauk passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota. He was born October 11, 1929 in Waterman, IL, the son of Clarence M. and Alice Mizel Schnitz, Sr. He married Joyce Morel on January 28, 1950 in Somonauk. Clarence was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, a former member of Sheridan American Legion, Sandwich Moose Lodge. He was a Veteran of the US Army National Guard during the Korean War. Clarence was employed by John Deere for over 40 years. He farmed in the Serena area for 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Curtis Lynda Schnitz of Leland, IL, Claudia Dan Ness of Leland, IL, Kim Schnitz of Leland, IL, Kerry Cindy Schnitz of Leland, IL; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one sister, Diane Ron Dallner of FL; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Gerald Hann of OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce, one brother and one sister.
Prayer Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the funeral home in Somonauk.
