Charles R. Watros, 77, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born December 4, 1938 in Dexter, MN the son of Ivan and Clara Reis Watros.
"Charles Watros, a man in the truest sense of the word. Among unparalleled artistry, a penchant for generosity,not to mention a rabid sweet tooth, he was a man deserving respect, an individual to be looked up to. Veteran, Cook, Fisherman, all topped by an aura of cool contemplation. It can only be said his was a life well lived. His family will always feel his love, knowing that he is now free, free to roam and enjoy the infinitesimal grace beyond."
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Charlie enjoyed wood carving, fishing, dogs, his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by four daughters, Diane Boland of Madison, WI, Donna Terry Sowers of Aurora, IL, Michele Ostendorf of Bentonville, AR, Kelly Watros of Naperville, IL; One son, Chuck Kathy Watros of Sandwich, IL; one daughter-in-law Christine Boland; eleven grandchildren, Samantha, Ben, Jed, Joshua, Stephanie, Kate, Arthur, Dustin, Ian, Bailey, Colton, Shea, Erica and many beloved great grandchildren; two sisters, Dona Schumann of Leroy, MN, Jean Tom Scaglione of Leroy, MN; one sister-in-law, Molly Watros of Wabasha, MN and one nephew John Lednicky of Aurora, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bob Boland; one brother Jerry Watros; one sister Kaye Miland and one granddaughter Misty.
Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Federated Church 403 N. Main Street Sandwich, IL with Rev. Dan DeWitt officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Church Youth Group gathering area picnic table. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL.
