Charles E. "Chuck" Turner

Charles E. “Chuck” Turner, 87, of Sandwich passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. He was born August 28, 1927 in Hopkinton, IA, the son of Edward and Ella (Sherrer) Turner. He married Naomi Wortham in 1957. He later married Bernita Eichmeier on September 29, 1990 in Bensenville, IL. Chuck was a member of the Plano American Legion. He owned and operated Carpetile in Plano for 47 years. Chuck was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the end of WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Bernita Turner of Sandwich, IL; two sons, Steve (Norma) Turner of Yorkville, IL and Ron (Linda) Turner of Underhill, VT; two daughters, Cynthia (Wayne) Shumaker of Elburn, IL and Michelle (Jeff) D’Aleo of Lagrangeville, NY; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Sharon (Paul) Klein of The Villages, FL, Roxanne (Dennis) Ratkovich of Lynwood, IL and Lenita AuBuchon of Glen Ellyn, IL; one stepson, Gary Ogrodny of Indiantown, FL; five step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one brother, Phillip (Arlene) Turner of Clinton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Naomi, two sons, Earl and N. Michael, three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. during the visitation. Private burial will take place at Northville Cemetery in Sheridan. Memorials in his honor may be directed to Plano American Legion Post 395.
