Charles Dennis “Denny” Sprowls, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1943, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Charles Leonard and Barbara Louise (Warren) Sprowls.

Denny graduated from Earlville High School in 1962 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He later retired from Caterpillar. On February 26, 1983, he married the love of his life, Karen D. McIntyre, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years.

Denny found joy in life’s simple pleasures - fishing, hunting, trips to McDonald’s for a Daily Double, and keeping a well-manicured lawn on his John Deere riding mower. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, and taking his truck every morning for a ride through town. He took great pride in serving his community as a volunteer firefighter for 56 years, a role that meant so much to him.

Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting in the garage with a chew in his mouth, visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Kari) Sprowls; his five children, Patrick (Lori) McIntyre, Lori (Brian) Cunefare, Kimberly (Wesley) Vahl, Jill Harney, and Erin McIntyre; his thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Stanley Ray, Clayton, Brendan, Mackenzie, Madison, Morgan, Branson, Corey, Devyn, Greenlee, Wyatt, and Zendaya. He is also survived by his brother, Phil (Aida) Sprowls; two beloved nephews, Victor (Criss) Sprowls and Steve (Brian) Payne; and three nieces, Sue (Tony) Rich, April (Dave) Miranda, and Kristen (Kyle) Mcgill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and one grandson, Sean.

A celebration of Denny’s life will be held on Saturday, April 4th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Earlville Fire Department. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. For more information or to sign the online guest book, go to www.EighnerFuneralHomes.com
