Charles F. Rohrer, 93, of Somonauk passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Sandwich Nursing and Rehab in Sandwich. He was born March 3, 1919 in Sandwich the son of Louis and Mary (Flaherty) Rohrer. He married Alice Marie Hill on September 8, 1951 in Aurora, IL. Charles farmed all of his life until his retirement in 1983. He was very active in Illinois Beef Association and the LaSalle County Cattlemen’s Association.
Charles is survived by four daughters, Mary Alice Rohrer of Somonauk, Nancy Rohrer of DeKalb, Jean (Gary) Dau of Sheridan and Carol (David) Larkin of Walnut; two sons, David (Janice) Rohrer of Sheridan and Gary (Susan) Rohrer of Edgar, NE; ten grandchildren, Carly (Joseph) Cantlin, Kenneth and Crystal Dau, Charlie (Allie) and Chad Rohrer, Matthew, Kyle and Kristen Rohrer, Allison and Owen Larkin; three great-grandchildren, Lane Rohrer, Caylin and Everett Cantlin, two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Bill) Veach and Joan Herbig both of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice, one daughter, Christy Rohrer in infancy, two sisters, Gertrude Middleton and Joanna Yoesle.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Father Thomas Brantman officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
