Charles Perkins, 61, of Plano passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 in Valley West Community Hospital. He was born April 14, 1952 in Aurora, IL the son of Raymond and Bernice (Hettinger) Parker. He was a member of the Newark Sportsman Club and the local Teamsters Union. Charles worked at Aurora Black Top for 25 years and later worked at Lotz Trucking. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. Charles’ greatest love was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his life partner, Gloria Lucas of Plano, IL; his father, Raymond; three children, Teresa McCarthy of Joliet, IL, Sara (Jeff) Stamper of Plano, IL and Michael Lucas of Joliet, IL; five grandchildren, Jenny (Jake) Harnesk of Yorkville, IL, Shannon (Chris “Smitty” Reinecke) Stamper of Plano, IL, Samantha Stamper of Plano, IL, Shane McCarthy of Joliet, IL and Carly (Mario) Fernandez of Plano, IL; six great grandchildren, Alex, Elissa, Kyra, Rigo, Brock and Jaxon; three sisters, Trudi (Jim) Smith of Montgomery, IL, Sandy (Pat) Irby of Phoenix, AZ and Annette Parker of Greenville, NC; one brother, Tony (Leslie) Parker of Greenville, NC; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice, one brother, Steve Parker and his grandparents, John and Irene Hettinger

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Plano United Methodist Church in Plano with Pastor Kent Svendsen officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time on service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Church. Memorials may be directed to Silver Springs State Park in his name towards their fishing and outdoor show.
