Charles E. "Bud" Hilliard

Charles E. “Bud” Hilliard, 80, of Somonauk, IL passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at his home. He was born July 27, 1932 in Millington, IL the son of Floyd and Hazel (Mauck) Hilliard. Bud married Hazel M. Anderson on December 16, 1951 in Plano, IL. They made their first home on Rt. 34 in Sandwich and had celebrated 61 years together in 2012. He graduated from Sandwich High school, he was always proud of their championship football team. Bud loved to golf and was proud of the hole-in-one he made at Edgebrook Golf Course. He also enjoyed bowling with seniors at Idle Hour Lanes. Bud was a loving husband, father, proud grandpa and great grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel of Somonauk; one daughter, Linda (Mike) Gletty of Waterman; one son, Steven (Anne) Hilliard of Dixon; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Marie (Earl) Severson of Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Arlyn Tolzmann officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Open Door Rehabilitation or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk.
