Cecil Wayne Todd, 98, of Somonauk, IL passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at Aperion Care Spring Valley in Spring Valley, IL. He was born May 3, 1924 in Waterman, IL the son of Cecil W. and Edna (Johnson) Todd. He married Lora Mae McDowell on May 1, 1948. He grew up on his family farm in rural Rollo, where he was placed in the Farm Deferment Program during World War II and continued to be involved in farming throughout his life. He worked at Caterpillar in Aurora, IL for 33 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of The Shabbona Masonic Lodge #374, a member of The Earlville Country Club and many state park golf courses in Kentucky. Wayne and Lora were avid square dancers for many years while they traveled the US in their RV. Wayne loved competing in recreational sports such as fishing, horseshoes, basketball, bags, and he especially liked playing cards. Wayne had a lifetime love of many family pets. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Childers of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Lund of Pontiac, IL, Deborah (Kurtiss) Larson of Earlville, IL; one son, Cecil Wayne Todd Jr. of Glendale, AZ; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren , two sisters-in-law, Monica Todd of Oregon, IL, Mary Ellen McDowell of Leland, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lora of 62 years, two brothers, Cedric Todd and Dan Todd; one sister, Mirinda Oleson; sons-in-law, James Lund and Gerald Childers; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Todd.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, IL. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation at the church with Rev. Dr. Denise L. Rode officiating. Burial will follow at Victor Cemetery in Leland, IL. The luncheon will be at the church following the burial. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes or TAILS Humane Society.
