Catherine "Cathy" Tunnell

Catherine “Cathy” Tunnell, 74, of Fox Lake, Illinois, passed away on December 25, 2025.

Cathy lived a life defined by intelligence, warmth, and a natural ability to connect with others. People were drawn to her wherever she went, and she had an innate gift for making friends easily and genuinely.

Before retiring, Cathy worked as a Purchasing Manager, where she was widely known as the “go-to” person — someone others relied on when problems needed solving. Smart, analytical, and knowledgeable, she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

She loved cooking, boating, traveling, and spending time with family and friends playing games or going out to eat. Cathy was funny, quick-witted, and had an unwavering optimistic attitude no matter what life threw at her. Her eyes sparkled, and her presence lit up a room.

Cathy is survived by her son Jerry Tunnell, daughter Christy (Tom) Peck, brother Mike (Colleen) Dotson, brother Alan (Monica) Dotson, sister Pat (Jim) Hagy and her many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Alice (DuWayne) Ovitt, her dad Lowell Dotson and sister Barb (Dave) Bill.

Cathy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, intelligence, humor, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 noon Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the funeral home in Plano. Burial will follow at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano.
