Carolyn Ann Anderson, 64, of Cape Coral, FL passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. She was born October 17, 1949 in Sandwich, IL the daughter of Duell and Verian (Mall) Warren. Carolyn was a Cubs fan. She loved shopping and fishing. Carolyn’s entertaining free spirit always turned to compassion when family member were ill. She helped so much when her dad, Bill Cassell, Sr. and cousin, John Butler, were suffering life-threatening illnesses. Her sister, Sheryl Johnson Bell, was an angel throughout Carolyn’s illness in Florida. She made sure Carolyn returned to her home town, Sandwich, to be comforted by her family during her last days in this life. Throughout her illness, she never lost her sense of humor. Carolyn was cherished by numerous friends and co-workers that thought of her as a mother.
She is survived by one son, Richard (Peggy Wilson) Estes of Sandwich, IL; two grandchildren, Nathan Evans and Charlie Bailey; her mother, Verian Mall-Cassell of Sandwich, IL; one sister, Sheryl Bell of Cape Coral, FL; three brothers, Mike Cassell of Batavia, IL, Lee (Charlotte) Warren of Scottsdale, AZ and William (Rebecca) Cassell, Jr. of Campbellsville, KY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend, Rodger Estes.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Cassell, Sr., her husband, Tom Shannon and her sister, Julie Cassell.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL with Pastor Jonathan Singleton officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Franklin Mall Christmas Project.
