Carol Joan Cwikla

Carol Joan Cwikla, 71, of Earlville, IL passed away, Friday, January 4, 2013 at her home in Earlville. She was born December 3, 1941 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Orville and Loretta (Gorski) Kruger. She married Walter T. Cwikla Sr. on May 9, 1964. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Earlville, First Vice President of The Earlville Lions Club, Treasurer of the Sharing Hearts, active in the Earlville Red Hats, Past President of the Earlville Friends of the Library. Carol especially enjoyed the Senior Saturday’s and the Knitting group at the Earlville Library. Before retiring Carol was Postmaster at the Sheridan Post Office for over 23 years.

She is survived by one son Walter "Wally" Cwikla of Earlville and one daughter; Mary Cwikla; one grandson, Eric (Lexie) Cwikla of Granville, IL, one granddaughter, Hannah Cwikla. of Earlville, IL,: four great grandchildren, McKinley, Conlan, Deacon and Emberlyn; three sisters, Mary (Dan) Ernst, Christine (Ed) Doty and Loretta (Brian) Martin; and several nieces and nephews; and her special friend Howard Gast.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, two brothers, Orville and Tim Kruger.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Earlville, IL with Rev. Chris Haake officiating. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., at the church until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turnwer-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL. Memorials may be directed to the Sharing Hearts or the Earlville Lions Club.
