Carl E. Zoellner, 83, of Sandwich passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Monday, January 11, 2016 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born March 2, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the son of Carl and Anna Tausz Zoellner. He married Phyllis M. Horn on September 15, 1956 in Villa Park, IL. Carl was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Somonauk. He was an avid Cubs fan as well as a fan of the Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls. Carl loved his gambling trips with Phyllis, especially playing Blackjack but his greatest love of all was his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Sandwich, IL; three sons, Scott R. Zoellner of Sandwich, IL, Steven C. Maggie Zoellner of East Troy, WI and Tom E. Holly Zoellner of Cary, IL; seven grandchildren, Christina Jeff, Kellen Erin, Alexa, Katie, Garry, Mitch and Monica; two great grandchildren, Caitlin and James; one sister, Dolores Paul Cassidy of Bloomingdale, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kurt Zoellner, two brothers, Donald and Richard, and one sister, Carol Marcum.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk, with Pastor William C. Weidenbach, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
