Carl Walter Schliwa, 72, of Plano passed away July 7th, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 7, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Adolph and Hermine Brugger Schliwa. He moved to Oswego, IL in 1958 and graduated from Oswego High School in 1961. He married Lucinda Tregillus in 1965 and they had 3 children. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla earning a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Caterpillar for over 30 years. Carl was transferred to Japan in 1986 by Caterpillar to help establish a joint venture. They spent 6 years living in Japan and traveling to many Asian countries. In 1992 he was transferred to Germany to assist in another joint venture. He spent the next 6 years working and travelling through Europe with trips to Africa, Egypt, Morocco and Turkey. Carl returned to Plano, IL in 1998 and retired that same year. Carl loved golfing, playing euchre, fishing, entertaining and travel. He was fortunate enough to visit 49 different countries and all 50 states. He was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He was also a philanthropist, donating to many charities and volunteering his services at the American Legion in Plano.

He is survived by his wife, Lucinda of Plano, IL; his three children, David Shannon of TN, Brad Bethany Sanker of Chicago, IL, Amy Dale Morin Schliwa of KY; five grandchildren, Nicholaus, Anthony, Cheyenne, Rhian and Drake; one sister, Marli Dick Nutt of GA; one brother, Richard Schliwa of Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private cremation was held on July 8, 2015.

A celebratory shindig will be held at Cedardell Golf Course on July 25, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
