Carl E. Finkle Jr., 80, of Earlville, IL passed away, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Mendota Community Hospital in Mendota. He was born May 28, 1933 in Villisca, IA the son of Carl E. and Marie (Ware) Finkle Sr. He married Patricia Clark on November 25, 1954 in Villisca, IA. He was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church, where he served as the President of Methodist Men, served on the Board of Trustees, and taught Sunday School. He was an involved member of the Earlville Masonic Lodge, where he also served as Master. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad as a signal maintainer for more than 45 years. He served on the Earlville City Council and as a volunteer fireman for Earlville Fire District for several years. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, two daughters, Carla (Marc) Hanson and Carol (Randy) Goodbred both of Earlville, IL; four grandchildren, Jason (Maureen) Hanson, Brent (Michele) Hanson, Whitney and Reed Goodbred; three great grandchildren, Zoe, Claire and Gage Hanson. Two sisters, Barbara Thomas of Glenwood, IA and Sharon (Gene) Goodlette of Rockford, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, with Pastor Linda Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery in rural Earlville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2013 with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. at Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
