Bonnie Vahl, 75, of Aurora passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. She was born November 23, 1942, the daughter of Wendall and Marie (Thompson) Torkelson. She married Allen A. Vahl on March 16, 1963 in Plano, IL. Bonnie was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed crafting, musicals, plays, and traveling with her siblings, but most of all she loved being a grandma and a great grandma.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine Ortega of Aurora, IL; one son, Steven (Randajo) Vahl of McLeansboro, IL; eleven grandchildren; Lindsay, Justin (Mary), Vanessa (Javier), Christopher (Isabel), Derek, Zachary, Sierra (Eric), Elizabeth, Nathan, Hunter, and Dakota; four great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Velia, and Mason; two sisters, Dorothy (John) Bertram of Olympia, WA and Shirley (Gil) Krause of Plano, IL; one brother, Dale (Karen) Torkelson of Sandwich, IL; her beloved dog, Presley; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen, one son, Bradley A. Vahl, and her dogs, Barkley and Elvis.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano. Burial will follow at Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the funeral home in Plano.
